Making Clondalkin a Fair Trade town!
In 2013-2014 Mrs. Galvin and her sixth made it their goal to achieve Fair Trade status for the town of Clondalkin. They did a huge amount of work, engaging with local councillors, TDs, community respresentatives, as well as involving other classes in the school. Their work paid off and Clondalkin was officially awarded Fairtrade Town status on March 7th, 2014. Clondalkin is the 51st town in Ireland to be awarded with this honour.
Farmers from Belize and El Salvador, along with local councillors and community representatives, attended a ceremony in Clonburris to mark the occasion. Local newspapers covered the event, which was also shown on RTE 2.
