Clonburris Spring Clean - April 5th, 2017
As part of National Spring Clean, Clonburris N.S. had its first 'Clonburris Spring Clean'. Litter pickers were given by South Dublin County Council and various classes picked up litter around the school grounds and in the local environment. Other classes will do the same after Easter. Mary Dardis and Agnes O'Neill of Clondalkin Tidy Towns helped Ms. Walsh's 4th class. Photos were taken for the Clondalkin Gazette and local photographer, Tommy Keogh, also took a number of photos. Mr. Leech's class composed and sang a song for the occasion. The 'Bin Gardaí' could be seen around the school during the week also, checking that each class was using their two bins properly. Thanks to the Green School Committee for all their hard work. We're aiming to achieve our next Green Flag for Global Citizenship - Litter and Waste in 2018.
The Bin Gardaí at work!
Some of the Green School Committee worked as Bin Gardaí. They visited classrooms to check that the bins were being used correctly. Classes were awarded points if they passed the test!

Clondalkin Tidy Towns Representatives visit
Agnes O'Neill and Rachel Heller from Tidy Towns came to speak to second class, our Green School Committee and School Council on Friday 28th October. They talked about the importance of looking after our local environment and keeping the estates of Clondalkin tidy. They encouraged everyone to clean up, plant flowers which will attract bees and to keep the river Camac free from litter, especially plastic. Young volunteers would be very welcome on Saturday mornings! Meet at 10 a.m. (Tuthills Car park in the village). |
