We celebrated earning our 7th Green Flag! Well done to everyone who worked so hard on the theme of biodiversity. Special thanks goes to our Green School Committee, Ms. Brett, Mr. Shannon, Ms. Walsh, Ms. Murray and Mrs. Cleary. The ceremony started with the Green School Committee presenting the flag to the school, as 5th class played 'Congratulations'. Casey Greene and Dylan Doyle read poems, the Green School Committee spoke about the steps involved in earning our 7th flag and 4th classes sang an original song. Ms. Murray and Mr. McNamara were present and Mrs. Cleary sent her congratulations via Mrs. Ryan. After the break classes took part in lots of activities outside and held talent shows in the hall. A well-deserved celebration for all!

Biodiversity
The slideshow below shows some of the work done by classes on the theme of 'Biodiversity' in 2014/15. On 2nd February Barbara Reilly from South Dublin County Council came out to inspect our school for the Biodiversity Green Flag. She was really amazed at our Woodland Fairy Trail and all the work we have been doing. She was very pleased with our efforts to increase the Biodiversity in our area and told us to keep up the good work. Her report was sent to An Taisce. Mrs Cleary sent in our application which details everything we have been doing for the past two years.
- 5th class visited the school garden and made 3D models of it. They also wrote about their work and prepared a bar chart showing birds viewed in the school environment.
- Maps of the school garden drawn by Mr. Murray's 6th class
- Mr. Roebuck's class studied the life cycle of the frog
- A display showing the variety of life around us by 1st class.
- Work by Junior Infants
- Displays around the school
- Our Biodiversity slogan winner from 6th class
WOW Day, October 15th, 2014
Our Gardening Club and our Green School Committee went on a fact-finding mission to the Community Garden in Balgaddy on 3rd October 2014. They sampled some delicious vegetables and came away with some brilliant ideas.
There are representatives from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th on the committee this year as we aim to receive our next green flag (Biodiversity).
